Wise Owl Designs @ The Goose's Garden Party

Introducing the creative works of two women, Wise Owl Designs.  More info and images can be found at their website.

Lea and Rachelle on their work:

"Wise Owl Designs is a collaborative workshop creating unique apparel, handbags, fiber work, and wall pieces.  Our designs are imagined by either Lea Donhowe Lovelace or Rachelle Reis Branum and then we work independently on each step of the process: screenprinting, appliqueing, sewing and adding vintage elements such as buttons.  By the time a piece is completed, both Rachelle and Lea have worked on it numerous times.

Our M.O is fun, earthwise, modern, vintage, quirky, charming, and funky!  We use organic, vintage, and upcycled clothing and buttons as our material, as well as well designed modern fabrics.

We are currently working separately in our home studios and passing items back and forth.  We are excited to announce that we will be working in a new collaborative space at 207 1/2 Washington Street in downtown Decorah, Iowa starting this summer!  We are looking forward to the way this will enrich our work further."

Style File Friday: Family Horticulture Day

A confession: since a young age I have been afflicted with a plant and garden obsession.  It's true.  So I must say for those of you without a similar affliction the word "horticulture" does not do an event of this kind justice.

Plants and gardens not only have the ability to teach us about life they can change our outlook for the better.  Whether it's growing a few flowers on a patio, a family veg patch or a full blown landscape there are things to be learned a every step and that can be overwhelming.  Do not be discouraged, Family Horticulture Day will certainly be able to get you going on the right path.  Oh and feel free to stop by and check out what's happening in The Goose's Garden.  I think you can sense my affliction now.

Family Horticulture Day Outfit:

Wear-It-Every-Day Dress by Tulle: $68
Cathy's Necklace by Bridget: $28

 Happy Gardening

Style File Friday: Chelsea's Hope

Note to new readers: I'm usually fun, happy, honest and try to keep this PG (normally this stands for Purple Goose but in this case actually means the societal rating of PG).

It's Mother's day weekend.  We all stop and think about the women that have been in our lives.  I'm lucky enough to still have my Mother but when she was my age she wasn't as lucky.  For various reasons many of us are no longer able to shower them in praise and love.  Cancer is just one of those reasons but it's a big one.  It's a sad truth that cancer has and will affect most everyone we know.  No I don't mean everyone will struggle with it but someone they love probably will.  And that quite frankly sucks.  Cancer sucks.

But I don't want to be a downer here.  We have a LOT of things to celebrate, be grateful for and to keep fighting for.  So without further adiue I present this weekend's event, one that is very close and dear to our hearts: Chelsea's Hope.  You'll also notice this is a BRIGHT pink dress for this very bright pink occasion.  We're kicking cancer square in the pants.  No lazy, indecisive, unopinionated pinks here.  Square. In. The. Pants.

Vertical Ruffle Dress: $58
Crystal and Chain Necklace: $35

Ready?  Aim. Kick!
